YSL is a great company that is known for haute couture looks and top of the line quality. But, with Jazz for Men, something new and modern is introduced to the world. This great fragrance is interesting for the company.
About the scent
A lot is going on in the beginning of this masculine scent. Artemisia, lavender, and basil combine to make a sort of herby, floral note that seems just clean and natural. But that is not modern or edgy, and Yves Saint Laurent can’t leave it at that. So, nutmeg, coriander and cinnamon are added to the top notes to give a spicy feel that is a little aggressive on its own. This is lightened with a touch of citrus that is very light under the spices and herbs in the beginning.
With any powerful kick in the face to start, you must immediately follow up with a breath of fresh air before you go on to the final tones of it. With Jazz for Men, you get floral notes to calm you down. Carnation, orris, jasmine and geranium are combined to give a great floral middle tone.
In case the fun of the beginning left you with confusion about whether or not this cologne is masculine enough, there is literally every punch pulled in the base notes. Common rich tones like sandalwood, cedar and amber are not enough for the maker. Added to that are oakmoss and musk as well as leather and tobacco. If you had a question, you definitely don’t’ have one now.
The bottom line
Jazz for Men is daring, modern cologne for a man, and a very unusual creation for this company. This cologne is very modern and busy, but it definitely lives up to the great couture attitude of this company in this aspect at least.
